Carol Gutow (Goldstein)

Carol Gutow (Goldstein)

Carol Gutow Goldstein passed away March 31, 2020 in Mission Hills, California She leaves her husband Robert and daughter Jill.

In her words:

My first job, after graduating from the University of Michigan, was teaching elementary school in the inner
city of Chicago.  In 1968, I relocated to Los Angeles, where I have remained ever since.  I, first, taught fifth
grade, and, then, moved up the "intellectual ladder" to Middle School, and specialized in World History and American History.

In 2006, I retired.

I am happily retired after a long career. One of my favorite activites is being a Docent at the Getty Center.  I take visitors on the architecture tour
and the garden tour.  The setting is beautiful and it is a treat to be there. Over the years, my husband and I have have had some
wonderful travel experiences in this country, Europe, Australia, South America, and most recently Asia.I enjoy hiking, cooking, reading, word games, art and architecture, to name a few.

This makes me so sad! I remember Carol very fondly. She was one of the quiet but strong people in our small group at elementary school - before joining the bigger bunch at Mumford. Such a wonderful spirit! We lost contact after the Mumford days, but I'm glad she had a rewarding life and family afterwards to all who loved her!

Dear Carol's Family,

I'm so sorry for your loss.

In the olden Pasteur Elementary School days, Carol lived on Roselyn, around the block from me, across the street from Michael Stulberg and a block away from David Chesluck. We were good friends and our families took some vacations together. Carol was a little impish and always up for adventures. One of her attributes was her commitment to family, especially Aunt Geri.

Farewell to an old friend.
