STEPHANIE (SHAPIRO)
COHEN, former Detroiter of Atlanta,
Ga., died May 5, 2006. Before leaving
Detroit, she served as Rabbi Milton
Rosenbaum's secretary at Temple
Emanu-El and as a USY adviser for six
years at Adat Shalom. Synagogue.
After moving to Park Forest, Ill.,
she was involved in the Jewish com-
munity as a sisterhood president and
as a teacher at Am Echad's school. As
a founding member of a new congre-
gation in Morton Grove, Ill., she was
instrumental in naming it Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
In Syracuse, N.Y., and San Antonio,
Texas, she worked at Manlius Pebble
Hill School as a school administrator
and in an administrative position at
Humana Healthcare. The Cohens then
moved to Atlanta to be close to their
children. Mrs. Cohen was the religious
school administrator at Ahavath Achim
Synagogue from 1998 to 2001 and was
senior administrator at the Center for
Jewish Education and Experiences
since 2001.
She was a wonderful cook and
enjoyed collecting for and decorating
and beautifying her home. She was a
devoted and creative grandmother and
took pleasure in telling stories, mak-
ing special treats and shopping for her
grandchildren.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by her
husband of 40 years, Michael Cohen;
daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and
Michael Salpeter; son and daughter-
in-law, David and Tracy Cohen; grand-
children, Daniel, Benjamin, Nathan and
Hannah.
Graveside services were held.
Contributions may be made to Adat
Shalom Synagogue, 29901 Middlebelt,
Farmington Hills, MI 48018.

To my first dance partner, we sure were clumsy together, mostly me. You could probably teach Fred a thing or two. Peace.
